Out of context, with his visual and conceptual sobriety, managed to blow our socks off. This could be the best representation of this season.
De Standaard

Fantastic world premiere of the new show by Alain Platel. ‘Out of context’ is a return to the essence: nine dancers, without scenery, dancing beautifully, mixing humor, emotion and loss of control.

Les Ballets C De La B 1

He counts as the master of a choreographic language of empathy: Alain Platel. He has his performers create movement material out of psychological states. In a provocative, anarchic and warm-hearted fashion, he questions his characters without betraying them. In Out of Context, the technically extremely adept dancers explore moments of heightened sensitivity. They exhaust themselves in all directions and get into risky situations, in which they appear to burst. The result is surprising, intimate and gripping.

More than twenty years ago, Alain Platel and a collective founded the ensemble les ballets C. de la B., which today ranks among the most important European dance companies. After musically inspired commissioned works for the Parisian Opera and the Ruhr Triennale, the choreographer, who was awarded the European Theatre Prize, is now one again fully dedicated to dance. Clear und uncompromising.
