Eleven elderly characters begin to warm up. They behead wieners and create snappy rhythms with squirting mustard, beheaded dough and sizzling water bottles. Ladies armed with tablets meet the men’s kissing duels: Station Gray – Last Stop by Alexander Ekman, which was awarded the Icelandic theatre prize Griman for the “best choreography of the year” in 2008, is enchantingly unpretentious and simply funny.

Kvart

Heilabrot by the young artist duo Ketilsdóttir-Gerke is sarcastic and witty, but also enigmatic. And another German premiere brings the Icelandic National Company to Bremen: Kvart, an encounter on a carpet by Jo Strømgren, the master of Nordic dance theatre.

The Iceland Dance Company seated at the Metropolitan Theatre Reykjavik has been dedicated to contemporary dance since 1996. With the repertoire of numerous guest choreographers and the promotion of local Icelandic talents, it has succeeded in becoming one of the most diversified international troupes within just a few years.
