Darkland is dissection and encounter, crumbling and restart, nihilism and determination to live.
La Sicilia

Their movements stem from the periphery: five dancers on a constantly decomposing stage. Crumbling structures and bizarre images confuse one’s orientation.

Darkland

Some figures fearfully fold into each other, others repeatedly resurge. In the second part of his trilogy on beauty dissolution and vacuum, Darkland, Helge Letonja deals with the poetics of transience. Decay possesses an ambivalent beauty.

After his studies, Helge Letonja danced in Frankfurt with Susanne Linke and Urs Dietrich, with Jan Fabre and the Canadian group Montreal Danse. In 1996 he founded the company steptext, meanwhile seated at the Schwankhalle. He has created more than 20 productions with which he has toured internationally.
